South Jordan grinding jobs usually end with a new tree. In Daybreak and the newer villages, the stump is a young tree that didn’t make it — winter kill, wind snap, planted-too-deep decline — and the HOA’s landscape standards expect a replacement, so we grind deep and prep the hole for replanting in the same visit.
On the established east side near the Jordan River corridor, stumps run bigger: legacy cottonwoods and willows off Redwood Road whose grinding is a half-day with real cleanup. Either end of the city, the finish is the same — grindings hauled or left as mulch at your choice, hole backfilled, and a written note on when the ground will be ready to plant.
How stump grinding works with us
- 1
Locate and mark
We confirm utility locations (Blue Stakes) when grinding near lines, and mark the grind area.
- 2
Grind below grade
Stump and surface roots ground to mulch, 8–12" down or deeper for replanting.
- 3
Backfill or haul
Grindings left as mulch, or hauled and replaced with topsoil — your call at quote time.
Stump Grinding in South Jordan — your questions
My Daybreak street tree died and the HOA wants it replaced — how does grinding fit in?
Grinding is step one of the replacement. We grind the old root ball out deeper than standard (18–24"), remove the grindings entirely — new roots struggle in decomposing chips — and backfill with soil so the replacement goes into real ground. We can plant the new tree too, and the paperwork trail (photos, invoice) covers what the review committee asks for.
How soon after grinding can I replant in the same spot in South Jordan?
Same week, if the grind was done for replanting: deep, with grindings removed and soil backfilled. If the grindings were mixed into the hole — the standard lawn-repair grind — wait a season or amend heavily with nitrogen, because decomposing wood chips starve new roots. Tell us the plan at the estimate and we’ll grind for it.
